Very little tuition is needed - the dogs know what they are doing ! One of the delights
of these trips is getting to know your own dogs which are very friendly and good
companions. Sled dogs love running ! The team works together under your instruction
you have to be part of the team - the leader behind the lead dog. A balance of love
and direction is required by the driver. Every participant will lead his/her own team of
four or six dogs, and travelling across a scenic winter landscape, our local dog handler
will teach you the secrets of dog sledding.
You will fly from the UK to Kiruna where you will be met by your guide who will provide
you with warm clothing and foot wear and take you to meet the dogs. The sleds will
be prepared for the seven day trip and you will be given a lesson before setting off
through the forest and out over swamps and frozen streams. Once out on the sleds
you will feel the silence of this remote place. The landscape is varied and you will visit
the high plateau of the Rasto tundra, the only permafrost area in Sweden.
Accommodation is in warm cabins in the wilderness.
